Welcome to the website of the Learner Wellbeing Conference. The Learner Wellbeing Conference will be held at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia on 24th November 2008.

The Learner Wellbeing Conference is for any person with an interest in student and teacher wellbeing, whether it be cognitive, emotional, physical, spiritual or social.

It will include presentations and discussions on research and practice relating to student and teacher wellbeing. Academics and Researchers from Flinders University and across Australia will come together to present their work and stimulate further research in this field.

Educational Futures, which was established in 2006, was created specifically to generate and carry out research that provides evidence-based strategies for future educational action in a broad range of settings. It is currently home to a number of research groups, including:

  • The Languages Education Research Group
  • The Social Justice Research Collective
  • The Rural and Remote Education Research Group
  • Research In Special Education
  • The Leadership and Management Research Collaborative
  • The Southern Schools Project Group
  • The Physical Education Research Group

Researchers from each of these groups will address a range of important themes relating to student and teacher wellbeing today.

One hundred and forty researchers, teachers, curriculum and policy officers and leaders joined staff at Flinders University for the inaugural Learner Wellbeing Conference.

Jan Andrews, Deputy Chief Executive Schools & Children's Services, officially opened the conference with a short address after a warm welcome to country from Katrina Garlabinna Kartanya Power. Dr Helen McGrath, Deakin University, began proceedings with a keynote presentation titled The Links Between Student Wellbeing and Academic Success. The conference concluded with a lively and informative panel discussion.
