Research in Educational Futures is organised around a number of research groups. Each research group organises its own research activities and liaises with other research groups when appropriate. The research groups also include higher degree researchers. Research groups organise specific seminars and conferences and several groups include members external to the university.

If you would like more general information about research activities then contact the research Development Officer at educationalfutures@flinders.edu.au.

Family Learning Network (FLN)

The Family Learning Project was established by the Northern Area Community Youth Services (NACYS) Inc., Elizabeth Downs Primary School, Elizabeth Park Primary School and Elizabeth East Primary School. The project is designed to promote primary school students' academic achievement by improving service coordination and implementing advocacy and community development strategies to address the social and environmental factors that impact negatively on the well-being of families.

Flinders Research in Early Childhood Education (FREChE)

The Flinders Research in Early Childhood Education group was established in 2008. The group comprises academics, postgraduate students and professional educators who share a commitment to research that enhances the development of equitable and socially just early childhood education and care.

IB Group

This research is in its initial stages, but is broadly aimed at exploring outcomes for students participating in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Primary Year Programs (IBMYP and IBPYP). More specifically, the research will explore the extent to which students participating in these IB programs in the target schools demonstrate a selection of the characteristics articulated in the IB Learner Profile and the skills reflected in the Approaches to Learning component of the MYP curriculum framework.

KidsMatter

KidsMatter aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children, reduce mental health problems amongst children, and achieve greater support for children experiencing mental health difficulties, and their families.

It includes KidsMatter Early Childhood, designed for implementation in preschools and long day care; and KidsMatter Primary, designed for implementation in Australian primary schools.

Leadership and Management Group

We share a commitment to sustainable organisations and government through the development of leadership and management capacity.

Magenta Fler

The Multilingual and Global Engagement Association for Languages Education Research Group (Magenta Fler) comprises staff, postgraduate students and teachers interested in issues involved in language learning and language teaching.

Research in Special Education (RISE)

Members of the Research in Special Education (RISE) group are academics, post graduate students and professional educators with interests in a diverse range of areas associated with special and inclusive education.

Social Justice Research Collective (SJRC)

The Social Justice Research Collective (SJRC) was established midway through 2004. It is comprised of both early career and experienced researchers from the School of Education who are broadly interested in social justice pedagogies and research. It complements the research carried out by the School of Education’s research institute, Centre for the Analysis of Educational Futures, and other programs.

Southern Schools

The School of Education has formed an on-going research relationship with a group of DECS schools in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. The relationship evolved out of contacts with schools and has recently developed into a productive partnership that has been driven in large part by the schools themselves. The innovative element in this partnership is the focus on research that addresses the needs of each of the schools.

Sport, Health and Physical Education (SHAPE)

The Sport, Health and Physical Education Research Group (SHAPE) began life in 2007 as the Physical Education Research Group. In 2009, Associate Professor Murray Drummond expanded the group to include sport and health research and subsequently re-named the research group, Sport, Health and Physical Education, or SHAPE.

The research and development group brings together a group of researchers at Flinders University each with a unique focus around sport, health and physical education.
