The LANG3000 Language in Action topic (available to third year students in the beginners stream, or to second or third year students in the intermediate stream) is a Work Integrated Learning topic in which students go on placement with a community organisation or other group where Indonesian is used. Student placements include working with the OzAsia Festival assisting Indonesian artists, supporting the families of Indonesian children who come to Adelaide for cranio-facial surgery, and participating in Indonesian language and cultural workshops in South Australian schools.

This semester, I'm going to follow four Indonesian Muslim
students as they go about their daily lives living in Adelaide.
I want to explore how they integrate into Australia while
maintaining close connections with their home country.

My placement with Indopeduli allows me to assist Indonesians who come to
Australia for craniofacial surgery. The placement is not only rewarding but
allows me to immerse myself in Indonesian language and culture.
