Through the Medium Research Project Grant scheme, you may apply for amounts up to $5000. Please read the EHL Research Project Funding Rules 2017 (PDF 147KB) before submitting an application.
* Please note that all staff international travel, including the associated Travel Diary, must be submitted online through FlindersPro; for more information please see the Faculty's EHL Travel webpage. *
Medium Research Project Grants are designed to support projects not suitable for external funding either because of their size or because of a lack of funding opportunities in the area. Applications to this scheme may also be made for matching funds (up to the limit of the scheme) provided by an external agency. These grants may include funding for:
- Pilot projects (smaller discrete projects whose viability for large grant funding is being explored);
- Time release (to a maximum of $2000);
- Fieldwork and data collection; and
- Research Assistance.
Due to the transition to a new academic and professional support structure that will take place on Monday, 1 July 2017, it is necessary to change the normal end-July EHL deadline for Medium Research Project grant applications to an earlier date. Medium Research Project grant applications for projects with expenditure during 2017 must therefore reach the Faculty Office by close of business on Monday, 29 May 2017. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, so there is no need to delay an application until that date if you are able to submit it sooner.
It is not yet known whether it will be possible to make applications for research project funding support of this sort within the new Colleges structure in the second half of 2017.
The application for a Medium Research Project grant consists of the following documents:
- Researcher Information form (DOCX 51KB)
- Research Project grant application form (DOCX 69KB)
- Report on Previous Funding form (DOCX 55KB)
Endorsement by your Dean and submission of your application:
Please note that applications must be submitted to the Dean of the applicant’s School (or delegate, where appropriate) for comment and endorsement before submission to the Faculty Office. If you intend to submit an application, please be sure to let your Dean (or their delegate) know, and to allow sufficient time for their perusal of it prior to the Faculty deadline. School Deans may choose to put in place an internal School deadline somewhat in advance of the Faculty deadline.
Completed applications should be sent to the Faculty Research Coordinator, c/- the EHL Faculty Office. Assessment normally takes between two and three weeks.
Payment of allocation:
If your application is successful, you will be given an account number through which to access the funds. Transactions are to be processed by EHL Accounts: receipts for reimbursement and enquiries regarding the logistics of accessing your funding should be directed to the EHL Accounts team (Rm. 2.20 Education Building; ext. 15155; firstname.lastname@example.org).
Final Reports will be required on all projects funded by the Faculty at the end of the funding period. Please use the Research Project Grant report form (DOCX 54KB) to submit your report.
Carry-Forward of Funds:
Medium Research Project Grant funds may be carried forward into the following year where a strong case is presented. If you wish to apply to have your funding carried forward, please use the carry-forward of 2017 funds form (DOCX 16KB) and the Research Project Grant report form (DOCX 54KB) to do so. Carry-forward applications must be received by close of business on the last working day of October each year. For 2016, this date is Monday, 31 October. Please address them to the Research Coordinator, c/- the EHL Faculty Office.
Please direct queries regarding Medium Research Project Grants to the EHL Research Coordinator.
