Surf Life Saving South Australia (SLSSA) have collaborated with Flinders University, specifically SHAPE Research Centre and One Fitness to improve surf life saving elite athlete performance.

SLSSA and SHAPE Research Centre have the view to developing a sustainable facility for elite athletes.

Athletes complete health and fitness testing including a V02 max test or POW70, depending on the athletes sport of choice. These tests are compelted pre-, mid- and post-season to monitor improvements.

Atheltes are involved in nutrition and psychology education sessions, run by students and leading researchers in the selected fields. 

This High Performance Academy with be implemented in the upcoming Surf Life Saving '16/'17 season.
