Why International Tourism?
Students are able to participate in an international field trip as part of their third year tourism research topic (TOUR 3100). This topic will expose students to contrasting international tourism learning environments, thus enabling new perspectives and experiences to be developed that exist beyond an Australian context. Past field trips have gone to Malaysia and to Cambodia.
Introduced in 2014, current students are able to participate in an international field. This topic expose students to contrasting international tourism learning environments, thus enabling new perspectives and experiences to be developed that exist beyond an Australian context.
The Tourism Department also has excellent relationships with a host of universities worldwide that have permitted many tourism students to study abroad on exchange programmes. These relationships have fostered the construction of international learning platforms that further ensure that students are exposed to relevant and highly contemporary content beyond the Australia context once again. Current and former tourism students have undertaken exchange programmes at the University of New Mexico (US), the University of Calgary (Canada), the University of Manchester (UK) and the University of Valencia (Spain), for example.
Finally, we have had students studying with us from all across the globe including (in alphabetical order): Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, United States of America – just to name a few! Our students, by their very engagement with each other, also internationalise the degree.
