Flinders has many of the qualities of an employer of choice.
The foundation of our success is a community of staff members who are committed to the values of the university and the achievement of our strategic priorities.
The friendly university
We have a reputation as the ‘friendly university' and a proud tradition of constructive workplace relations. We have policies and structures in place that ensure that we are culturally sensitive.
Quality working life
Staff at Flinders have an excellent quality of working life which is supported by progressive employment practices that balance the needs and interests of staff and the university.
Committed to staff development
Flinders offers a wide range of staff development activities and services for all university staff, particularly in the areas of:
- teaching and learning
- flexible education support
- computer and technical skills
- professional development
- leadership and management.
Flinders has a proven commitment to recognising and advancing opportunities for those in equal opportunity groups. This is demonstrated by our EOWA Employer of Choice for Women accolade, and by becoming a signatory to the Corporate Leader for Indigenous Employment Project.
Our impressive campus is built on land whose traditional owners are the Kaurna people. Spread over 165 hectares, it incorporates extensive green space and areas of natural bushland on an elevated site which offers panoramic views of the central business district and nearby coast.
While the university's main campus is at Bedford Park in Adelaide, we also have a physical presence in regional South Australia, south-west Victoria and the Northern Territory.
An extensive range of on-campus services and facilities is available, including:
- child care centres
- car parking
- post office
- health and fitness programs and facilities
- a variety of food and beverage outlets.
