Inspiring engineering

Flinders University is taking a fresh approach to the engineering courses it is planning to offer from 2009 onwards.

Building on our strong tradition of teaching and research in engineering, the planned courses are designed to meet current and future industry employment needs.

Our nationally recognised industry placement program provides students with 20 weeks of structured industrial work experience with one of 100 local, national and international organisations - often leading to an ongoing employment with that company.

Bachelor of Engineering Science...a pathway to a Bachelor of Engineering award

This new course (3 years full time or equivalent part-time) equips graduates with the knowledge to becoming engineering technologists.

It focuses on fundamental engineering principles and skills including physics, earth sciences, mechanics, materials, electronics, computer systems and robotics but also with elements of software and biomedical engineering.

With no formal prerequisites, students performing well in this award are able to transfer to the Bachelor of Engineering awards.

There is a pathway for students who have completed 2 years of the biomedical engineering award and wish to transfer to the Bachelor of Engineering Science.
