Flinders University - Inspiring achievement
All Flinders Engineering awards have been designed in close collaboration with industry in order to meet future development needs.
Students gain specialist knowledge in key areas and an integrated tool kit of skills that will enable them to meet the technical criteria required by industry and to engage professionally with on-going technical developments.
A distinctive feature of the Flinders awards is the nationally recognised industry placement program. More than 100 local, national and international organisations support the program, which provides students with 20 weeks of structured industrial work experience. Students complete their final year of study having already gained a first-hand understanding of the role of the graduate engineer. They graduate with a proven on-the-job performance and many go on to work full-time with the company that provided their placement, or with another in the same industry.
Our engineering courses have a strong relationship with the School's Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Science (Computing and Digital Media) courses.
Transfer to and from them is facilitated for those students wishing to transfer.
Science courses are a key strength at Flinders University and there are a number of ways in which a career in science can be pursued.
Our Bachelor of Science award, for example, is designed to provide the strongest possible foundation for a science-based career providing a wide range of study options including Bioinformatics, Biological Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Ecology, Behaviour and Evolution, Environmental Hydrology and Water Resources, Mathematics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Ocean and Climate Sciences, Physics and Zoology.
