Am I eligible to have Pre-2008 status?

If you are a Pre-2008 student enrolling in topics in the Accounting, Administration, Business, Economics, Commerce and Tourism subject areas you wil be charged at the Band 2 rate. To be eligible for Pre-2008 status you must satisfy one of the conditions below :

  • you are transferring from a course to a new course; AND
    a) you commenced the course before 31/12/2007; AND
    b) have not completed the requirements of your current course before 1/1/2008; AND
    c) you were enrolled in your previous course as a Commonwealth Supported student.
  • you are undertaking an honours course of study; AND
    a) you completed the related course for the honours course of study; AND
    b) you were enrolled in your previous course as a Commonwealth Supported student.
  • you are commencing a new course or transferring from a course to a new course; AND
    you have previously been granted pre-2008 status for another course.
  • you are returning to study in the same course in 2008 for which
    you were enrolled as a Commonwealth Supported student prior to 2008.

You may apply for Pre-2008 status using the  Application for pre-2008 status (DOC 138KB) form which is available online or from Student Finance Services in the Student Centre.

If you have not studied at university before, or do not meet the criteria for Pre-2008 status, you will be charged the Band 3 rate for topics in the Accounting, Administration, Economics, Commerce and Tourism subject areas.

If you were previously eligible for Pre-1997 or Pre-2005 status, and are continuing your studies, you will automatically be charged the Pre-2008 student contribution amounts.

PLEASE NOTE: 

Transitional arrangements relating to Pre-2008 students end on 31 December 2012.  All students studying in the Accounting, Administration, Business, Economics, Commerce and Tourism areas will be charged the Band 3 maximum student contribution amounts from 1 January 2013.
