Leave from study
Continuing undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students who are not returning to study in 2008, but wish to return in 2009, must apply for leave. Leave covers a one-year period and subsequent application is required to extend beyond one year. An application for leave is not required for one semester's leave only.
You can apply for leave in two ways:
1. By submitting an Enrolment Request via the Frequently Asked Questions page. Log in, go to the 'Request Support' tab and lodge a request stating the reasons for your leave; or
2. By completing a leave form. Leave forms are available from Faculty Offices and Enrolment Services and, once approved, must be lodged with Enrolment Services in the Student Centre.
Enrolment Services will seek approval on your behalf and notify you via your University email account if your leave request is approved.
Students who do not obtain leave will be required to apply for readmission to the course in order to return to study. Students eligible for Pre-2005 Student status who discontinue study without obtaining approval for leave of absence will be charged at the increased student contribution rates.
Students commencing an undergraduate course who withdraw prior to their first census date (usually 31 March) must apply to SATAC to defer their place.
Research higher degree students who are not returning to study in 2007, but wish to return in 2008, should contact their Faculty Office to make arrangements for intermission from their higher degree candidature.
For more information about applying for leave, contact Enrolment Services on phone (08) 8201 3950 or 1300 360 351 (local call fee within Australia) or email enrolment.services@flinders.edu.au.
