CDIP Toolkit

The Cultural Diversity and Inclusive Practice (CDIP) Toolkit is a core resource designed to assist all members of the Flinders University community, promote mutually respectful relationships and translate the university’s policies and intentions into practice.

This toolkit is designed to support you in monitoring your own practice for strengths and identifying areas for development. It is not a prescriptive, fixed set of practices.

The Toolkit can be used by individuals for self-reflection or by small groups to facilitate discussions about:

  • reflecting on current practice
  • obtaining colleague / student feedback
  • planning
  • review and evaluation.

It consists of:

  • General information folios (GIFs)
  • Theory into practice strategies (TIPS)

General information folios (GIFs)

  • Contain information relevant across ALL core activity areas
  • Offer information about specific topics relating to cultural diversity
  • Provide details about other resources available.

Theory Into Practice Strategies (TIPS)

Each TIPS folio focuses on one of the University’s core activity areas:

  • Teaching and Learning
  • Research
  • Leadership and Administration
  • University Community

Each TIPS folio:

  • Contains strategies and suggestions to enhance inclusive practices in a variety of University settings through case studies and anecdotes
  • Offers self-assessment tools to assist the reader to reflect on and evaluate current practices
  • Provides links to other resources available, including seminars, professional development opportunities and further support.

Develop your own GIF or TIP

Individuals or study groups are encouraged to develop a TIPS or GIF sheet relevant to their individual work area, based on their experience, study requirements, and responses to the self-assessment tools provided.

Refer to writing a new folio for tips on how to develop a new TIPS or GIF sheet.
