Disaster Research Information and Discussion Meeting

On March 5 the Disaster Research Centre holds its first Bi-Monthly Meeting for 2013 and we are pleased to introduce two exciting talks. The first of these is from Samantha Ward, Director, Disaster Resilience Policy Section, Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department.

Samantha’s Section develops and provides policy advice on a range of disaster resilience matters including risk, mitigation, hazard mapping, climate change policy, as well as international emergency management policy, including Australia’s input to the UN’s Hyogo Framework for Action. View her bio (attached). She will share her experience and knowledge in providing an overview of Australia’s National Strategy for Disaster Resilience.

The second talk is by Adjunct Professor Kristine Gebbie, Flinders University Disaster Research Centre, Ms Sugi Perera, Torrens Resilience Institute. The DRC has collaborated with the Torrens Resilience Institute on a project funded by the Commonwealth Government National Emergency Management Plan to develop the Community Disaster Resilience Scorecard for measuring the resilience of Australian communities against disasters.

Please RSVP by Tuesday 26 February
