Financial assistance
The Commonwealth Government offers financial assistance to tertiary students
through the Austudy, Youth Allowance and Abstudy schemes. For further information contact Centrelink.

Austudy
Austudy is a payment to full-time students over the age of 25. Eligibility
is based on many factors, including personal income and assets, your partner's
income and assets, enrolment, previous study history and levels of expenditure.
Full-time students must be enrolled in at least 13.5 units per semester to qualify
for Austudy. If you are receiving Austudy and you withdraw from a topic and
your total study load is reduced below 13.5 units in a semester, you must notify
Centrelink.
Youth Allowance
Youth Allowance is a payment to full-time students under the age of 25 and
unemployed young people aged under 21. Income and asset tests apply on personal
earnings and may apply to partner's earnings. Parental income and family assets
tests may apply unless independent. Full-time students must be enrolled in 13.5
units per semester to qualify for Youth Allowance. If you are receiving Youth
Allowance and you withdraw from a topic and your total study load is reduced
below 13.5 units in a semester, you must notify Centrelink.
Abstudy
Abstudy is financial support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
in tertiary study. For further information on campus, contact Yunggorendi.
Education Entry Payment
The Education Entry Payment of $208 is paid once each calendar year to eligible students starting or continuing education. For details on eligibility contact Centrelink or Flinders One.
Scholarships
Flinders University offers a wide range of scholarships. Information on scholarships schemes offered by the University and external organisations can be obtained from the Higher Degree Administration and Scholarships Office located in the Registry Annexe (opposite the Student Centre). The office maintains a database of scholarship schemes, which is available to search and browse via the web.
