How to apply for a refund



Request a refund

If you wish to request a refund please email fees@flinders.edu.au. You will receive an acknowledgement email and, if approved, your refund will normally be processed within 2 weeks of receipt of your request.


Payment of refunds

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

  • You may request payment via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) directly to your bank account or another nominated bank account. EFT requests will normally be processed within a week.

Cheque Payments

  • If you do not specify any payment details a cheque will be mailed to you. This will take up to 2 weeks.

Withdrawal from topics BEFORE census date

Any refundable amounts will be processed within four weeks of the relevant census date.

Student contribution amount and tuition fees

  • If you are paying your student contribution amount up front you will be eligible for a refund of the amount paid for the withdrawn topics.
  • If you are a fee-paying postgraduate or non award student you will be eligible for a refund of the amount paid for the withdrawn topics. See the Policy and Procedures on Payment of Course Fees by Domestic Students for refund conditions.
  • If you are an international student refer to the Student Related Policies and Procedures Manual section relating to International Students for refund conditions.


Withdrawal from topics AFTER census date

Normally no refunds will apply if you withdraw from topics after census date.


Special circumstances

If your withdrawal is as a result of specified exceptional circumstances you may wish to apply for a Re-Credit of Student Learning Entitlement (SLE) and/or Remission (Removal) of Debt in Special Circumstances. Refer to the Policy on Refund of Student Contribution Amounts and Tuition Fees, and Remission of Higher Education Load Program (HELP) Debts. Forms are available online or from Student Finance Services, Student Centre.
