Pre-2005 Student Contribution Amount
If you are eligible to be a pre-2005 Commonwealth supported student you will be charged a student contribution amount for your topic enrolments.
As a pre-2005 student you will be charged according to the rates set out in the pre-2005 Student Contributions table below. If unsure, you may wish to check whether you are eligible to study as a pre-2005 student.
If you continue studying into 2009, you will be required to study under the new student contribution levels.
All topics are allocated to a band, which is dependent on the subject area of the topic. Your student contribution amount will be calculated using the 'Annual Student Contribution Amount' from the table below.

* EFTSL = Equivalent full-time student load. Flinders full-ime load for the year is 36 units. To calculate your EFTSL divide the unit value of the topic(s) by 36, eg 6 units = 6/36 EFTSL = 0.166 EFTSL
** Discounted amount: As a Commonwealth supported student, if you are eligible and if you pay all or part (minimum $500 per census date) of your student contribution amount up-front to the University before the relevant census date you will receive a 20% discount on the payments made.
Examples of how to work out the student contribution amount
A topic at Band 1
Jane commenced a Bachelor of Arts in 2003 and is a pre-2005 student. She is continuing that course in 2008 and has enrolled in SOCI3017. Jane has checked the student contribution band for this topic. This is a 6 unit topic in Band 1 ($4,077 per year).
A full-time load at Flinders is 36 units (1 EFTSL). To calculate the student contribution amount divide the topic unit value (6) by the total units for the year (36) and multiply by the annual student contribution amount.

Student commenced pre-1997
Janet commenced a Bachelor of Science in 1995 so is a pre-1997 student. She is a continuing in that course in 2008 and has enrolled in a 3 unit topic BIOL3380. Janet does not need to check the student contribution band for this topic as she will be charged at the pre-1997 rate ($3,061 per year).
A full-time load at Flinders is 36 units (1 EFTSL). To calculate the student contribution amount divide the topic unit value (3) by the total units for the year (36) and multiply by the annual student contribution amount.
