Aims

The program of study aims to develop a range of transferable research, analytical and communication skills including the capacity to:

  • understand the complexity and contexts of environmental decision-making
  • collect, process and evaluate environmental information through a variety of approaches
  • develop appropriate strategies for managing environments and associated resources.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the major students will be able to:

  • comprehend the interdisciplinary nature of environmental management and demonstrate a broad and coherent knowledge of environments at various scales, interdependencies between human societies and environments, and environmental management
  • collect, analyse and manage data utilising tools, methods and skills for environmental management practice
  • communicate effectively with diverse groups in different contexts through written, verbal and visual forms
  • apply disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge to identify, conceptualise and find solutions to environmental management challenges
  • work both independently and collaboratively
  • demonstrate awareness of the requirements for ethical behaviour.
