Flinders has formal exchange agreements with a number of universities in Asia, Europe, Scandinavia and the Americas that allow us to exchange students for 1 or 2 semesters each year.
Studying in another country allows you to experience another culture and get a feel for living there, without being a tourist.
Studying overseas gives you the opportunity to enhance your degree with studies that may not be available at Flinders. You will gain an international perspective which may be useful in your career and the exchange experience looks great on your CV.
And of course, it provides an excellent chance to make new friends and networks from all over the world.
How it works and what it costs
In an exchange, students study for a designated period at another institution while remaining a student at their own university. That means that while they are overseas, our students continue to be full-time Flinders students – incurring the normal student contributions for a full-time load but also remaining eligible for Youth Allowance. They do not pay tuition or student fees normally charged by their host institution, but are responsible for travel, accommodation and other living expenses while overseas.
Flinders offers a number of $1000 scholarships each year to exchange program students. Scholarships are awarded on merit (academic standing). For further information, see Scholarships @ Flinders.
OS-HELP Scheme provides loans of up to $5000 to eligible students who undertake part of their study overseas.
For more information, refer to outgoing student exchange.
