uniTEST

Are you keen to enhance your opportunity to attend university?  Do you wish to increase your options to gain a place in the course you want? Are you looking at a way to show the University that you have the ability to succeed at University study?  Then uniTEST is your chance to impress!

Whilst it won't guarantee you a place at University, if you do well in the test the results will be taken into consideration by Flinders, and it may assist you to enter your course of choice. If however you don't do so well in the test, don't worry as you cannot be disadvantaged by sitting uniTEST.

What is uniTEST?

uniTEST is an aptitude test that has been designed to assess the kinds of generic reasoning and thinking skills that underpin studies at higher education and that are needed for students to be successful. uniTEST assesses this reasoning and thinking across the broad domains of mathematics, science, humanities and social sciences.

uniTEST is designed for school leavers and will complement existing selection criteria such as the ATAR.

Why sit the test?

Flinders is offering uniTEST to any eligible applicant wishing to enhance their opportunity to attend university.  Flinders will select students based on both an applicant's Year 12 results (60% weighting toward the ATAR score) and uniTEST performance (40%).

Am I eligible?

uniTEST is open to any current Year 12 student who will complete an Australian Year 12 qualification this year (2014) including International onshore Year 12 students.

Does uniTEST apply to my preferred course?

uniTEST results can be used for entry to most courses offered by Flinders. Check our list of eligible courses.

Please note that for your uniTEST results to be considered, you will need to have applied for one of the uniTEST eligible courses through SATAC.

What if I don’t meet the above eligibility?

There are a variety of pathways to a Flinders degree including using a TAFE/VET qualification, Year 12/SACE or interstate equivalent, International Baccalaureate, Principal’s Recommendation Program, Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), Tertiary Studies or our Foundation Studies Program.

If you are interested in studying at Flinders, you are advised to talk to a Prospective Student Advisor regarding other pathways to your preferred course.

How do I sit uniTEST?

Sitting of uniTEST occurs under examination conditions.

There are two options available for undertaking uniTEST:

  • Option 1 - online testing at your school
  • Option 2 - online testing on campus at Flinders University

Testing will take place in the period July to October 2014.

When will I be advised of my uniTEST results?

Results will be available to students in early December, students will receive email confirmation of their availability. Further information about uniTEST is available to assist with understanding your results.

Your uniTEST results will be taken into consideration along side your Year 12 academic performance, as reflected in your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). No student will be disadvantaged by sitting UniTEST.

Remember you can be considered for a course at Flinders on the basis of:

  • your ATAR rank (inclusive of relevant bonus points)
  • a combination of your Year 12 performance and uniTEST results
  • any other entrance pathway for which you are eligible.

uniTEST results are valid to be utilised for two years i.e. Year 12 students who sat uniTEST in 2014 for admission in 2015 are also able to use their results if applying for eligible courses for admission in 2016.

When will I be advised if I have an offer?

SATAC will, on behalf of Flinders, make you an offer. Successful applicants will be offered a place in the January 2015 offer rounds. Once you have received an offer you will be able to check it online at SATAC.

If I get an offer can I defer?

Yes, you can defer your offer of a Flinders place. If you request deferment, SATAC will send you a letter, no later than April, explaining the procedures to be followed to take up your place.
