So you’ve made it to University…Fabulous! Now its time to plan for the transition!
Starting at university is a big step - and more than 4500 new students do it at Flinders every year. Some come straight from school, others have just completed a TAFE course and a significant number are mature age students who bring with them a wide range of life experiences.
Transitioning to university, like starting high school or a new job, involves many changes for students; socially, emotionally, academically and environmentally. Here at Flinders we want to make the transition to university as easy for students as possible.
The Get Connected site is about students becoming familiar with the University, academic requirements, and knowing where to go should the need for help arise.
But the most important part of transitioning to university involves you! Planning ahead, becoming involved in programs and establishing a support network very early on are paramount to enhancing your first year experience.
This site is designed to help you settle in at Flinders and stay settled. The site will also highlight the wide range of resources that are available to you. So get in early and read it now before you get busy with your studies.
You can use this site at any stage of your academic career. If at any time you need a bit of help or advice, some tips from those who've been through this situation themselves, are thinking of withdrawing or maybe need some reassurance that you've made the right decision and actually belong here, look at the resources we have available for you.
