This page describes the many benefits that are associated with being a member of Golden Key at Flinders University. These fall under a number of headings: Academic Recognition, Career Assistance, Scholarships, Publications, Leadership Opportunities and Chapter Activities.
Academic Recognition The top 15% of all second-year and higher students across all courses and disciplines are invited to join Golden Key every year. The new members are inducted at the Annual Reception Ceremony and presented with a personalised certificate. Members are part of a network of high achievers that stretches through 230 chapters across the world. Career Assistance The Flinders Chapter places a particular emphasis on career development for its members, and runs a forum to this aim each year. Representatives from companies affliated with Golden Key present insights into the recruitment process from the employer's angle and provide invaluable advice. The Society also produces a Career Assistance Reference specific to Australia which contains the contact details of numerous companies which actively recruit Golden Key members. This guide is available at a nominal cost. Scholarships Two Undergraduate Awards are presented by the Flinders University Chapter each year to outstanding inductees, and the Society provides ten US$10,000 Graduate Scholar Awards to Golden Key members annually. One of the ten is specifically allocated to Graduates from Australia. For more information, visit the Scholarships Page, or contact the chapter. Publications The Concepts magazine is produced by the Society and mailed to all members who request it. It contains a wide variety of articles and the winning entries of the Literary and Arts Prizes. The Australian Headquarters puts out Key Notes, a semi-annual newsletter detailing current and upcoming events. The Flinders Chapter also produces four newsletters per year detailing matters of particular interest to Flinders Golden Key members. Leadership Opportunities The possibilities for leadership within the Golden Key organisation are fantastic. As well as the local chapter executive committee, members can become Australian Student Representative, and also attend regional and international conferences as a delegate. Chapter Activities Flinders prides itself on running a diverse range of activities including national programs such as Plant A Tree, as well as Careers Development Forums, Quiz Nights and Movie Nights. See the Upcoming Events page for details. |
