Faculty Strategic Advisory Committee

Preamble
The Faculty Strategic Advisory Committee (FSAC) will act as an advisory body to the Executive Dean on matters relating to the management of the Faculty in the areas of Faculty co-ordination, strategic planning, resources management and quality assurance. It will replace and subsume the functions of the Faculty Resources Advisory Group and Faculty Equipment and Minor Works Committee.

* it is intended that the Chairs of other Faculty committees, eg Teaching and Learning, Higher Degrees, Information Technology, School Boards, International Programs, and Staff Development will be invited to attend meetings from time to time, either singly or as a group, and particularly when issues of significance to their portfolios are to be discussed.

Terms of Reference
To advise and provide support to the Executive Dean on:

• strategic planning and development initiatives;
• initiation and integration of Faculty business with matters arising from Vice-Chancellor's Committee, and other bodies external to the Faculty;
• co-ordination of Faculty decision-making and quality assurance processes;
• budget formulation and allocation of resources, and budget monitoring;
• formulation of submissions on resources matters; and
• priority ranking of submissions to and requests for funding from other University sources.

Reporting Relationship
The Faculty Strategic Advisory Committee is an advisory committee to the Executive Dean. It considers only those matters referred to it by the Executive Dean or by its own membership. It may refer matters to other Faculty committees for consideration and/or action.

Meetings
The Committee will generally meet on a monthly basis, co-ordinated with meetings of the Vice-Chancellor's Committee.
