International Programs Committee
Preamble The Committee is responsible
for policy advice and strategic planning relating to international activities
within the Faculty. Terms of Reference - to advise
the Faculty Board on development of a strategic plan for international activities
- in
collaboration with the International Office to achieve improved co-ordination
in various aspects of assessing opportunities for, and marketing of, Faculty courses
and expertise overseas, to maximise financial or other benefits to the Faculty
while minimising costs
- to provide advice to the Faculty Board on allocation
of Faculty resources to achieve shorter and longer term objectives for international
programs.
Membership (Chair) Faculty representative on
the University International Programs Committee (appointed by Executive Dean)
Representatives of programs offered on a full-fee basis: -Biotechnology
-Environmental Health -Medicine -Nursing (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)
-Public Health (Nutrition and Dietetics, Health Services Management, Primary Health
Care) -Speech Pathology and Audiology -Disability Studies Faculty
Registrar Head, International Office, or nominee Role of the Committee
The Committee will report to the Faculty Board and work in consultation with the
University International Office. Its focus is not on the conduct of individual
programs but on achieving better co-ordination between existing programs in areas
such as marketing; and on planning future evolution of international programs
(building on available resources and strengths) so as to maximise future financial
or other benefits to staff and students in the Faculty. In support of these functions
the Committee will: (i) develop an overview of international activities in
the Faculty including - participation of full-fee students in existing award
courses, on campus or by distance education - short courses, workshops etc
for international students on campus or overseas - academic and other support
for international students in the Faculty - international institutional links
for student or staff exchanges, including "Study Abroad" - international
institutional links in teaching and research - involvement of sections of
the Faculty or individual staff in international consultancy, aid projects, etc
- setting of fees and allocation of full-fee income. (ii) Facilitate exchange
of information and views on international activities within the Faculty. (iii)
Facilitate exchange of information and views between the Faculty and University.
In particular through - the International Office representative on the Faculty
Committee; and - the Faculty representative on the University International
Programs Committee. (iv) Promote the dissemination of information about the
Faculty, its International Programs and its Research interest through the International
Office and through other media. Meetings The Committee will meet
on a regular basis, normally monthly.
