  • In 2006 there were over 3,350 international student enrolments in Flinders University courses. International enrolments at Flinders represent 20% of total enrolments.
  • Flinders international students are from more than 80 different countries. The major countries of origin are China (including Hong Kong), Singapore, Indonesia, Canada, Malaysia, India and Norway.
  • International students are enrolled in 60% of the courses offered at Flinders. There are international students studying in 57% of undergraduate degrees and 59% of the graduate coursework programs, while 76% of research degrees have international students.
  • Flinders University students study at overseas universities on formal exchange programs and through arrangements such as the Internship Program, which allows American Studies students to spend six weeks in government offices in Washington DC. Indonesian language students regularly attend the Indonesian language program at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta.
  • There are about 52,000 Flinders alumni. Some 4,430 live outside Australia, and we have contact with 4,012 of them. An International Alumni Networking Register is available to members of the Alumni Association.
  • Some Flinders courses are available internationally on-line or through traditional distance education, while there are other Flinders courses available in China (including Hong Kong SAR), Norway, Singapore and Malaysia. In 2006, 1,100 students were studying in off-shore programs..
  • Flinders courses have an international orientation, while students with a particular interest in international issues can enrol in the Globalisation program, or undertake courses such as the Bachelor of International Studies or the Master of Arts (International Relations).
  • Flinders has programs of study for French, Modern Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Spanish and our students can also study Chinese, Japanese and German. Our Spanish and Modern Greek programs are among the largest at universities in Australia.
  • A number of specialist centres at Flinders focus on international issues including the Flinders University Institute for International Education and Flinders International Asia Pacific Institute.
