The following scholarships are available to international students studying at Flinders University:


Australian Development Scholarships

Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) are long term development awards administered by AusAID. ADS aim to contribute to the long term development needs of Australia's partner countries in line with bilateral and regional agreements. They provide opportunities for people from developing countries to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

The study and research opportunities provided by ADS develop skills and knowledge of individuals to drive change and contribute to the development outcomes of their own country.

Australian Leadership Award Scholarships

The Australian Leadership Award Scholarships (ALA Scholarships) are long term development awards aimed at addressing priority development areas by enhancing leadership and building partnerships and linkages within developing countries.
Up to 200 ALA Scholarships are available on an annual basis for high achieving applicants wishing to undertake postgraduate (Masters or PhD level) study at an Australian higher education institution.

ALA Scholarships target those whose chosen field of study equips them to play a significant role in addressing, researching or combating development challenges in their country or region. Awardees are provided with opportunities to enhance their leadership capacity and extend their networks.

Selection for an ALA Scholarship is highly competitive. It is based on the applicant’s professional and personal qualities, academic achievement and, most importantly, their commitment to contribute to development outcomes for their country and region.

Endeavour Awards

The Endeavour Awards is the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing opportunities for citizens of the Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. Awards are also available for Australians to undertake study, research and professional development abroad.

The Endeavour Awards aim to:
  • Develop on-going educational, research and professional linkages between individuals, organisations and countries,
  • Provide opportunities for high achieving individuals from Australia and overseas to increase their skills and enhance their global awareness,
  • Contribute to Australia’s position as a high quality education and training provider, and a leader in research and innovation, and
  • Increase the productivity of Australians through an international study, research or professional development experience.

Mawson Lakes Fellowship Program 

The Mawson Lakes Fellowship Program provides three scholarships each year for South Australian postgraduate students studying in the fields of urban innovation and innovative urban planning and development practice to study in Japan for six months. In turn, three Japanese students are given the opportunity to study in Adelaide.

Latin America: Australian Development Scholarships

Australia’s international development cooperation in Latin America aims to help people overcome poverty through sustainable economic development. Australia’s development cooperation program will focus on areas of greatest need and where Australia can make a difference.

Chile

Flinders University is participating with Universities Australia and Becas Chile in the Bicentennial Fund Scholarship program. This will enable Chilean students who have secured a scholarship to study a Masters or Doctoral research degree at Flinders.

China

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) and Flinders University (FU) have established a collaborative scholarship program for students from selected Chinese universities to undertake research PhD studies at Flinders University. The long term purpose of the program is to establish strong working links with Chinese universities in order to build relationships around key academic research areas.

A number of scholarships will be issued each year to successful applicants providing a living allowance, payment of tuition fees, overseas student health cover (OSHC), visa application fees and a return international fare between China and Australia. Applicants must apply to Flinders University as well as through the CSC application process and have approval from their home Chinese university.

Ecuador

The Ecuadorian Government, through the Secretaría Nacional de Educación Superior, Ciencia y Tecnología (SENESCYT) scholarships offer Ecuadorian professionals the opportunity to continue their academic formation in masters, doctorate or postdoctorate programs abroad.
Priority will be in the area of  scientific and technological development with a boost to the academic level of Ecuadorian universities at the same time.

Transition Awards

Local students

Flinders University recognises that completing the first year of university is not always an easy feat. This Award recognises and promotes the efforts of international students who embrace the challenge of continuing their studies beyond high school.

The Award:
  • supports the efforts of international students who have successfully transitioned from high school to university
  • gives $1,000 to each of the ten top performing international students who have successfully completed year one at Flinders. Performance is measured on Grade Point Average
  • is granted to students selected from all international students who have completed high school in South Australia/Northern Territory and have applied through SATAC to commence study at Flinders University in semester one of the following year.
