Step 1

 

Receive Offer letter

If your application to study at Flinders University has been successful, you will be sent an offer letter offering you a place in a course at Flinders.

If you applied to an undergraduate degree, you will have received an offer to the highest preference for which you were qualified. If you applied for admission to a postgraduate course (Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters, or PhD), you may receive more than one offer letter.
With your Offer Letter you will receive the  Your Offer Letter Explained (PDF 184KB) document which outlines everything you need to know about your Offer Letter and how to respond.

If you have supplied an email address, this information will be sent to you by email.

Step 2

Accepting or deferring your offer

Accepting

To accept your offer, please return the completed Acceptance form and Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP) Checklist and/or declaration form.

Once these forms have been reviewed and any conditions have been met you will need to make the required payment (step 3) as outlined in your offer.

Once you have made payment and submitted your acceptance with any additional information required, the International Centre will issue you with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) document.

Following receipt of your CoE, you may apply for your student visa.

Deferring

With the exception of the Bachelor of Creative Arts, the Bachelor of Midwifery and the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, applicants who have been offered a place in an undergraduate degree or diploma course may be permitted to defer their entry for 1 year, subject to any approval by the faculty.

If you wish to defer commencement of your offered program please contact the International Centre.

 

Step 3

Activate your student account and pay your fees

Your initial payment is due when you accept your offer. This payment maybe the full commencing semester tuition fee or a deposit towards the first semester's tuition fees as requested in your offer. The payment also needs to include visa length Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) or alternatively, students can arrange their own OSHC.

After your initial fee payment, remaining payments are required each semester depending on enrolment and topic selection.

Activate your Flinders student account

To obtain and activate your Flinders account (FAN): 

  1. Go to the student computing page on the Flinders website to obtain your FAN.
  2. Enter your Student ID number and your initial password. (The initial password is the last four numbers of your student ID number followed by the day and month of your birthdate. For example, if your Student ID number is 2194567 and your birthdate is 4 March, your initial password will be 45670403).
  3. Click ‘Go’ and your initial password will be displayed.
  4. Read and agree to the Conditions of Use of the University’s ICT Resources and click on ‘Authenticate’ your FAN.

You will now need to set a secure password.  You will use your FAN and password for a range of University services throughout your time at Flinders, including accessing the Student Information System to pay your fees. 

Paying your fees

To pay your fees the following payment options are available to you. The International Centre advises that online payment is the most efficient method of payment: 

1. Online

Log into the student information system using the FAN and password just created.

Select the ‘My Finances’ tab at the top of the page then from the left hand menu choose ‘Pay International Acceptance Fee’.  Enter the ‘Amount to Pay’ as outlined in your “Offer of Admission” as well as your credit card details (Visa or MasterCard) to pay your account. Payment may take 2-3 working days to process. 

2. Mail

Make cheques or money orders payable to Flinders University and mail to the following address:

You must quote your Student ID number on the reverse of your cheque/money order.

3. Electronic Fund Transfer (for funds transferred from offshore accounts only)

Please ensure your full name and student number is written on the bank forms. A transfer fee may be charged by your bank.

Step 4

Apply for your visa

Once your payment has been processing, the International Centre will issue you with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) document which is required for you to apply for a visa.

If you do not provide a complete visa application including your CoE, a detailed statement of purpose and other required documentation at time of lodgement it may result in your visa application being delayed or refused.

Vist the Department of Immigration and Border Protection website and use the Visa Finder to find the Australian visa most likely to meet your specific circumstances. To lodge a complete application for prompt assessment, refer to the visa application document checklists.

Step 5

Pre-departure information

The International Student Handbook contains everything you need to know about making preparations for life in Australia, and study at Flinders.

On receipt of payment of your tuition fees, you will receive a copy of the pre-departure guide.

 Once you have confirmed your flight you should advise International Student Services of your arrival details by completing the arrival booking form. They will arrange to meet you at Adelaide Airport to take you to your accommodation.
