Program Title: Medicine, Disability and Community Inclusion Student Mobility in Timor-Leste
Program Location: Various Disability and Human Services across Timor-Leste
Program Overview: This is a program offering students the opportunity to experience language, local culture, disability, health and human services in a neighbouring developing country, Timor-Leste This opportunity will encourage you to learn about services in Timor-Leste and contrast those to services in the Australian context and to contribute to day to day supports. The program will involve internship style opportunities to work alongside local Timorese as well as cultural immersion activities.
Program Dates: Departing Adelaide on Friday 11th April, 2016 and returning on Saturday 23rd April, 2016
Places Available: There are 4 places for Bachelor of Clinical Sciences students and 6 places for Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education students.
Open To: All Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education Students eligible to undertake a Practicum Specialisation and all Bachelor of Clinical Sciences students undertaking MMED2008 Communication for Improved Patient Care in 2016.
Application Deadline: 12 noon on Wednesday 16th December, 2015
Eligibility: Domestic and International Students regardless of age are eligible to apply.
Credit: Compulsory pre-departure activities and the two weeks in Timor-Leste will contribute towards 4.5 units for students undertaking a DSRS Practicum Specialisation or MMED2008 Communication for Improving Patient Care.
Costs: Indicative costs are $6,000 partially offset with $2,000 Flinders University Student Mobility scholarship ($4,000 gap to be covered by student via OS-Help loan or personal resources)
