If you are using a mobile device that supports secure wireless and wish to set up a connection for eduroam yourself, the settings required are listed below. Due to the wide variety of mobile devices and services that are available, we are only able to provide minimal support in the form of the basic configuration information required to connect to the network.
There are two different types of authentication that can be used to connect mobile devices to eduroam and you will need to consult the manual for your device to see which one is supported.
The common settings for all mobile devices are as follows:
- Network Name/SSID: eduroam
- Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption Type: AES
Your username is firstname.lastname@example.org and the password is the password that is normally associated with your FAN. You may need to disable server certificate validation or set it to user defined in order for mobile devices to connect successfully.
Authentication method #1:
- Network authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Inner authentication: EAP-MSCHAPv2
Authentication method #2:
- Network authentication: TTLS
- Inner authentication: PAP
