Flinders Authentication Name

The Flinders Authentication Name (FAN) is the gateway to accessing all University IT services.

To obtain or activate your FAN follow these instructions.

 

Undergraduate and postgraduate student

I have a student ID number or have a SATAC reference number

If you received an offer email from SATAC, you can click on the provided email link to go straight to your account activation page.

Otherwise, visit https://activate.flinders.edu.au/main to activate your account. Using your SATAC reference number, or your Student ID number (if known), combined with your date-of-birth, you will be taken through the account activation process.


I am an IELIFISC or academic staff supervised by Flinders University staff and I don’t have a Student ID number or SATAC reference number

If you are an IELI, FISC or any category of student that doesn’t have a SATAC reference number or Student ID number, you need sponsorship from an existing University staff member. Contact your supervisor to organise an account.

If you have been sponsored already and know your FAN, visit https://activate.flinders.edu.au/main to activate your account. Using your FAN and the activation code (provided by your sponsor) you will be taken through the account activation process.


Your email

Upon activation of your FAN you also activate your Flinders University email account.

Allow up to one hour from the time you activate your FAN for your email account to become active. An error stating your account is blocked will appear if your email has not yet been enabled.

Staff, Contractor or Consultant

I already have a Payroll Number

If you know your payroll number, visit https://activate.flinders.edu.au/main to activate your account. Using your payroll number and your date-of-birth you will be taken through the activation process.


I don’t have a Payroll Number

If you are a contractor or any category of user that doesn’t have a payroll number, you need sponsorship from an existing University staff member. Contact your supervisor or manager to organise an account.

If you have been sponsored already and know your FAN, visit https://activate.flinders.edu.au/main to activate your account. Using your FAN and the activation code (provided by your sponsor) you will be taken through the account activation process.


Your email

Upon activation of your FAN you also activate your Flinders University email account.

University visitor

I have a login from another University

If you have a current login from another University, you can utilise those same credentials on our eduroam wireless network to access the Internet at our Bedford Park, Tonsley and Victoria Square campus locations. 


I don't have a login from another University

If you will be a short-term visitor on campus and require only Internet access, you can self-register for Internet access on our Wireless Visitor Access Portal by connecting to the “Flinders Visitor” wireless network and following the instructions on the pop-up screen that follows.
