The Law Reform Committee of South Australia was established by proclamation in 1968. During its life, one hundred and six matters were referred to the Committee. Reports were published in a majority of matters, the final report being issued in 1987. The Honourable H.E. Zelling was the Chairman of the Committee from 1968.

The Collection was presented to the Library in 1995 by the S.A. Attorney-General's Department. The collection comprises of drafts of many of the reports, together with information folders containing correspondence and documentation collected during drafting. Also included are folders containing selected information relating to the work of Law Reform committees in other jurisdictions. The resources date from 1968-1987.
