The Library uses automatic renewals to extend your loans.
Items are lent for an initial period (7 or 28 days).
Auto renewal occurs before the due date for a further loan of 7 or 28 days, until the maximum loan period is reached.
- 140 days maximum loan for 28 day items
- 35 days maximum loan for 7 day items
Automatic renewal may be prevented if there is a pending request for an item.
- You will be notified by email if another borrower places a request for an item that you have on loan
- The item must be returned by the end of the current renewal period
You will receive a courtesy notice 2 days prior to the actual date items are due for return to the Library.
If a book you have on loan is required for the Readings collection, we will ask you to return it immediately. You will usually be contacted via your university email account.
Requests and Holds
If the book you want is out on loan you should place a request on it, by using the option in My Account.
This means that it will be kept for you when it is returned, and we'll email you to let you know that it is available. The book will be held for you on the holds collection shelving for 7 days at the your nominated branch library.
To place a request on a book, it must already be on loan or on hold for another patron. Sign in to My Account in FindIt@Flinders and look up the book. Click the Location tab and view the Request Options. Request will appear first if this an option.
Readings Collection Items
2 hour loans from the print Readings collection cannot be renewed. To be fair to other borrowers, patrons must wait 30 minutes before borrowing the same item again.
