Current Flinders University staff and students can place a request on:
- Items on the shelf – Items which are available on the shelf at any Flinders Library branch can be requested.
- Items on loan to another user – Once requested the item will no longer be eligible for automatic renewals and the patron who has the item on loan will have to return the item by the next due date.
- Items at another Flinders branch Library – Request items from one branch location, collect at another.
- Items not available in our collection – Staff and Post-graduate students can request items not held in our collection via the Document Delivery Service. Under-graduate students are not eligible for Document Delivery but are able to borrow in person from selected libraries under our Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme.
Note: You cannot place requests on 2 Hour loan items or Not for Loan items in our Special Collections.
You can collect your item from the Flinders Library Branch of your choice. Select your pick up location when you make your request. Eligible SendIt patrons can select Off Campus Library Service when making their request to have items delivered to either a home or other off campus location.
If the item you request is on the shelf at the same pick up location, and you place your request by 9am, the item will be available for collection from midday. If you are requesting an item on the shelf from another of our branches, please allow 24 hours for retrieval or longer at the weekend.
Once we have retrieved the item from our shelves, you will be advised via email that the item is ready for you to collect from the hold shelf. Note that until we have retrieved the item from the shelf and you have received the notification email, it is still available for other users to borrow.
If you request an item on loan to another patron, as soon as it is returned and transferred to your pick up location, you will be advised via email that it is ready for you to collect from the hold shelf.
Flinders Library Items on the hold shelf are kept on hold for patrons for 4 days. If items are not collected within 4 days they are either made available to the next requesting patron or returned to the shelves.
