SendIt - Off Campus Library Service is available to Flinders University students who fulfil one of the following criteria:
- Students are either enrolled fully online or fully externally
- Students who live outside the Adelaide metropolitan area. Internal students who live within the following range of residential postcodes are ineligible for this service: 5000-5199, 5201, 5250-5252, 5231-5234, 5240-5245.
- Students based at Adelaide College of Divinity, Tonsley, Victoria Square, Repatriation Hospital or OECP
- Please note that students who are enrolled in a mix of internal and external topics are not eligible for the service as they will be required to attend campus for their internal topics and can access library facilities during this time.
All new SendIt patrons must complete a registration form.
The map below defines the Adelaide metropolitan area by postcode. If you live within the brown shaded region, you are not eligible to use this service.
Are you remote?
If you are in a remote location within Australia we can provide you with loans of books delivered via StarTrack couriers. We can also supply copies of journal articles, book chapters and many other resources (within copyright). We will send these to your Flinders email address as pdf attachments, unless you advise us that you can only receive via post (available for students with no internet, or very slow internet). You can specify your delivery requirements on the registration form.
Courier delivery times may be longer for remote areas or where postal delivery is weekly, so please allow extra time when ordering book loans from the service. If you have any questions about returning books via StarTrack couriers please contact them directly on 13 23 45 and they will let you know whether you need to take your parcels to the post office, or whether they will collect from your address. Parcels should never be placed in a postbox.
Are you off-shore?
If you are off-shore then you must register for the SendIt service so that we can provide you with copies of journal articles, book chapters, sections of reports, copies from theses and many other resources (within copyright) from our collection. We will send these to your Flinders email address as pdf attachments.
Please note that we cannot send loans off-shore. However we can send one chapter or 10% of a book (in compliance with Australian copyright law - see below for more information about Australian copyright law). If you submit a request for a loan we will send you the contents page so you can select a chapter, and we also recommend using resouces like Google Books or Amazon, so that you can save time by submitting a request for the chapter you require.
Are you on placement?
If your placement takes you outside of the Adelaide metropolitan area then you must register for the SendIt service so that we can supply any articles or books you require for the duration of your placement. This means that you will be able to request items from our collection as well as items needed through Document Delivery (who only supply items not held by Flinders). We recommend that you register for the service 7 days before leaving.
Are you located at Adelaide College of Divinity, Tonsley, Victoria Square, Repatriation Hospital or OCEP?
If your home campus is one of those listed above and you are not required to attend Flinders main campus, then you are also eligible for the SendIt service.
