The online Event Management System was developed by the Marketing and Communications Office (MACO) in acknowledgment of requests by Flinders people for a system for the efficient management of event-related information. The Event Management System was successfully launched in June 2010 and continues to be developed in response to user feedback.
The system has two main functions:
- collection and management of guest registration information
- promotion of events through the Flinders University website and email.
The system enables users to set up events for publication, import or create guest lists, select online registration data required and process online registrations (including sending notifications to registrants). In the near future the system will begin to process secure online payments.
The Event Management System is a support resource for all Flinders faculties, schools, divisions, units and institutes for authorised events.
At this stage of the system's development cycle all events are set up and published by MACO. Event organisers are granted RSVP management permissions within the EMS and are able to access and manage registration information for their event. At a later time all areas of Flinders University will be invited to designate a staff member to be set up with full publisher rights within the system.
