Overview

The School of Medicine has an international reputation for integration and innovation in patient care, education and research.

As a member of the Global Health Education Network and a founding member of the Towards Health Equity Network, the School is also commited to being accountable to the community it serves, both locally and internationally.

The School is organised around six priority areas of research excellence - Clinical Effectiveness; Prevention, Promotion and Primary Health Care; Clinical and Molecular Medicine; Medical Science and Technology; Rural and Remote Health; and Innovation in Clinical Education.

We have well established and highly regarded research programs covering a wide range of biomedical science and health disciplines. We strongly encourage research students in all of our programs at Honours, Masters and Doctorate levels.

Our education programs include a Graduate Entry Medical Course, plus courses in other health professions including Medical Science, Speech Pathology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Biotechnology, Ambulance Studies, Disability Studies, Remote Health Care, Palliative Care, Clinical Rehabilitation, Health Services Management, Disability Studies, Public Health, Health Science, Mental Health Sciences and Clinical Education.

Our main campus is situated in Adelaide, South Australia and co-located within Flinders Medical Centre, an academic medical centre combining a tertiary teaching hospital and medical school. Our School is also affiliated with other hospitals in the Southern Region of Adelaide - the Repatriation General Hospital at Daw Park and the Noarlunga Health Services.

Our School has a significant and expanding rural and remote presence with clinical training and research activities in regional areas of Australia. Our external campuses include the Northern Territory Clinical School (Royal Darwin Hospital), the Northern Territory Rural Clinical School (Alice Springs, Katherine, Gove), the Centre for Remote Health (Alice Springs, Katherine), the Flinders University Rural Clinical School (Renmark, Mt Gambier, Victor Harbor, Angaston) and the Greater Green Triangle University Department of Rural Health in south-eastern South Australia and south-western Victoria (Warrnambool, Mt Gambier, Hamilton).
