The Ophthalmology, Eye and Vision Research Centre (OEVRC) at Flinders University is at the forefront of the fight against blinding eye disease. The centre’s groundbreaking work in improving outcomes for patients with common blinding eye conditions has earned it an international reputation and attracted substantial research income to the university.

A major objective is to expand our sphere of influence through an integrated, multidisciplinary research program that focuses on the significant physical, emotional and economic constraints experienced by sufferers.

The OECVR has the only large group of scientists and clinicians working in eye and vision research in South Australia, and one of only a few in Australia. Much of the work is world-leading and involves national and international collaboration.

Our approaches include basic biomedical science and a comprehensive integrated research program that crosses disciplines and focuses on clinical outcomes and health management.

"Any active researcher working on the eye, whatever his or her background, will be welcomed into our centre. Our aim is to gain recognition as world leaders in our field."
