Biomedical engineer wins Menzies Scholarship


Alisa Selimovic , who graduated last year with a University Medal and first class honours in Biomedical Engineering, has been awarded a Menzies Scholarship to undertake her doctorate at Oxford University.

 

Plenty to read for Peter Rose

Peter Rose, Flinders University’s Editor and Writer-in-Residence and editor of the Australian Book Review, has been appointed as a judge of the non-fiction section of the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards for 2009.
 

Migration history takes NSW literary prize

Flinders University historian Professor Eric Richards has been awarded the $15,000 Community Relations Commission Prize at the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards for his book Destination Australia.

Flinders Appointment to Premier's Council for Women

Dr Anu Mundkur, Associate Director of the Gender Consortium in the Centre for Development Studies at Flinders, has been appointed to the Premier's Council for Women.


Newton International Fellowship winner

Flinders physics PhD Dr Kate Nixon has won a prestigious 2009 Newton International Fellowship that will enable her to study with Professor Andrew Murray at the University of Manchester for a two-year period.

 

Queen's Birthday Honours

Professor Michael Kidd, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Flinders, was among staff and graduates of the University to be recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours announced on June 8.

 

A rising star

Kieran Clancy, has performed the exceptional feat of completing his science degree, which included a double major in physics and mathematics, with straight high distinctions.
