| Course content
| Module 1 is a program designed for Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Cert IV health workers who wish to increase knowledge and practice skills in continence nursing. The program represents the merging of academic and clinical aspirations in the effort to promote continence in the wider community. The combination of academic and clinical expertise has resulted in a diverse, evidence-based program that can be applied in many settings. This program will appeal to Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Cert IV health workers employed in paediatrics, women’s health, midwifery, acute care, in the community and aged care. Module 1 uses a case study approach to explore legal issues, communication, critical thinking and clinical reasoning, all of which are necessary skills for the assessment and management of urinary and anal incontinence and constipation. However the focus of incontinence in this module is urinary. Faecal incontinence and a specific focus on life span issues for urinary and faecal incontinence are included in Module 2. Participants: · will be provided with the opportunity to become familiar with nursing knowledge required for promotion of urinary continence· be able to provide appropriate advice and support to patients/clients and significant others in relation to maintenance of urinary continence · will have specific nursing skills for continence promotion

| Cost
| Cost- TBA- includes morning and afternoon teas, lunch on the last day and printed material. Bookings and payments due by Friday 29 June 2012. An assessment is available to participants, for an additional $120.00 (incl GST), who have successful completed Module 1 and Module 2. Upon successful completion of the assessment, Registered Nurses may be eligible to receive part exemption in the topic NURS8701 Continence Across the Human Lifespan in the Graduate Certificate in Health (Continence Nurse Advisor).

| Cancellation: A full refund will be made only where written advice of cancellation is received not later than 5 working days before commencement of the course. Flinders University reserves the right to cancel or change the dates of any course, subject to course numbers and staff availability. Parking: Onsite—$4.00 day permit can be purchased in the car park. Certificate: Upon completion of the three-day program, registrants will receive a certificate of attendance. Evaluation: Registrants will be asked to complete an evaluation at the end of the course. |
