OHS Induction

Flowchart overview.

New staff

All supervisors must ensure that staff receive information about Occupational Health and Safety, including information about the fire safety system, building evacuation procedures and all area-specific hazards. This requirement includes all academic staff: they have a duty of care for students as well as a duty of care for themselves and any staff they supervise.

Staff Induction

The Handbook for new staff and supervisors includes an OH&S Checklist to be completed by the supervisor and new staff member on the first day of work. Both people must sign the Checklist and the supervisor must retain a copy for audit purposes.

Contractors

The requirements for contractor safety can be found at the Buildings and Property website.
