First Aid - Internal Audit soon
The final OH&S internal audits for this year will include
an audit of the University's First Aid system. This will involve
the auditors asking a random selection of staff various
questions.
Essential information for all staff:
First Aid assistance may be required in the event of an accident
or illness. If such a situation arises you may contact the
First Aider in your area.
The names and numbers of First Aiders are available from
the OH&S Unit web site, at: http://www.flinders.edu.au/ohsw/1st_Aiders.html
The First Aid Guidelines can be seen at:
http://www.flinders.edu.au/ohsw/firstaid_guide.html
In the absence of your First Aider it may be appropriate
to contact either the Health Service (phone 12118 between
9 a.m. and 5 p.m. only) or Security (phone 12880 at any time).
All Security staff are trained in First Aid and in University
emergency procedures.
Security staff need to be informed if you call an ambulance
(0-000), so that they can direct the ambulance to the correct
building.
Alternatively, Security may assist with transport to the
FMC if the ill or injured person requires assistance at the
Emergency Department but does not need an ambulance for transport.
Note: No staff members, including those with specific
First Aid training, are required to carry out First Aid procedures
that they are not comfortable with even if they have been
fully trained in those procedures.
