Farewell to Alan Walker

Alan has worked in the OH&S Unit for almost 4 years — but now he is leaving the University to take up a higher position in OH&S.

In the time that he has been here Alan has assisted staff in many areas of the University with OH&S advice, training, accident prevention and accident investigation.

Alan’s cheerful approach to his work and attention to detail have been much appreciated and he will be missed by all involved in OH&S — especially the staff in the OH&S Unit.
We wish Alan the best for the future.

Return Visit of Workcover Auditor

The WorkCover auditor, Mr Jim Craik, returned to the University on 13th and 14th of February.

He checked documentation, visited some workshops and met several staff as a follow up to matters that had not been finalised at the time of his previous audit.

His comments about the quality of the internal OHS audits carried out by staff were very encouraging and he also made positive comments about improvements that had been made in the workshops.

Mr Craik will be returning to the University in August this year to check documentation relating to some of the specialised hazard areas.

Free Tai Chi sessions — still popular!

The lunch time Tai Chi classes are run in 9 week blocks, linked to Education Department School terms.

Next term Tai Chi Level 1 will be on Wednesdays from 12.10 to 12.55 p.m, followed by Tai Chi Level 2 from 1.10 to 1.55 p.m. Tai Chi Level 4 will be available on Fridays from 12.10 to 12.55 p.m.

Staff who have completed any of the Tai Chi levels previously are welcome to drop into any of the classes at any time to ‘brush up’ on skills. Click here for details.
