Who is responsible

All people on campus are responsible for their own safety and that of others.

If you see a hazard, please report it to one of the following:

  • your supervisor – for hazards your area can control;
  • the Maintenance Department – if it is a maintenance issue;
  • the Buildings and Property Department Project Manager – if it is a construction, redevelopment or refurbishment project;
  • the Occupational Health and Safety Unit – for anything you are not sure of.

The Flinders University Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Policy is based on State legislation. The Policy states:

4.1.5 Staff/Students

Staff and students have a responsibility to work safely, taking reasonable care to protect their own health and safety and that of fellow workers and students. They must make sure that events do not occur which make ineffective the University's actions carried out for health and safety purposes.

Complete Policy.
