  • How much sugar do you eat? You may be eating more than you realise. Test your knowledge on how much sugar is contained in many popular breakfast cereals.
  • Pedal your way to better health and learn more about the importance of food and exercise by creating your own pedal-powered fruit smoothie.
  • Put yourself in the shoes of a paramedic. Jump in the back of our onsite ambulance and attempt to keep the medical simulation manikin ‘alive’ while testing your compression performance skills.
  • Do you see what eye see? Check out our optometry gallery of optical illusions and compare what you see with your friends. Our optometry students will be on hand to discuss the art and science behind optical illusions.

Watch chemistry and physics combine in a fascinating show about states of matter, where you will be shown some of the more exciting aspects of atoms and molecules using liquid nitrogen. Learn how blood splatter patterns can help a forensic scientist find out what happened at a crime scene. Enter the wonderful world of nanotechnology, where making changes on tiny scales (one billionth of a metre!) can have huge impacts in the areas of energy, medicine, the environment and more.

Live cooking demonstration run by Sprout Kitchen. See celebrity cook and author Callum Hann and his colleagues heat up the kitchen, cooking two tasty, healthy dishes while providing education and training – a feast for the senses. If you’re lucky you might even get a taste. 10:30am Sat at Open Days HQ

Find out first-hand how you could make a real difference in people's lives by becoming a midwife or nurse. Talk to the professionals and take part in a hands-on experience featuring interactive displays and presentations by lecturers, staff and graduates. Then tour the School of Nursing & Midwifery’s clinical skills laboratories and high-fidelity simulation facilities. Registration desk open at 9.30, see information sessions timetable for times.

The Humanities Courtyard is the home of creativity. Whether it be watching short films produced by our screen and media students in the inflatable Dome Theatre, playing pétanque on the lawns, watching the Indonesian band perform, or entering the event control room, there is something for everyone. Find us next to the Flinders Laneway and in close proximity to Matthew Flinders Theatre – the staff and students are looking forward to meeting you.

Warm up over a coffee and enjoy the hospitality of the Flinders Business School in the Business Lounge, located just outside the Library. Current students and staff will be able to answer any queries in a relaxed atmosphere.

Join Flinders’ students and experience all the drama and suspense of a real-life courtroom during a trial re-enactment – you be the judge. (12.15pm Fri and 11.30am Sat)

A solid future starts with good foundations – build yours with giant Jenga at this year’s Open Days. Not only do you require a steady hand, but teamwork and strategy are just as important. Challenge yourself and your mates to become Jenga champions.

Need a break after all that? Enjoy a snack or lunch from some of the best food trucks in Adelaide thanks to the pop-up Flinders Laneway.
