Predicting achievement for graduate-entry medical students using latent variable partial least squares analysis EdD Study, A hypothetical model arising from 12 latent variables will be developed to identify how graduate entry medical students admission criteria influence achievement in study areas including health and illness and the doctor-patient relationship. The study's specific questions are:
1. Which hypothesised variables, which include the student's age, gender, ethnicity, aptitude, undergraduate GPA score and admission interview 'influence the medical students' achievement' in their third year of study?
2. What variation in achievement can be ascribed to these variables?
Factors influencing achievement in mental health nursing by undergraduate nursing students EdD Study This project examined whether pre-existing beliefs held by undergraduate nursing students towards mental health problems and nursing interventions are influential in predicating academic achievement in mental health nursing studies. Using multivariate analysis methods, students' gender, age and previous success in science-based nursing topics has been also analysed as predictors for achievement in mental health nursing topics. Outcomes of the study will impact on undergraduate and postgraduate nursing curriculum areas (both theoretically and experientially), and on the recruitment of nurses to the mental health area.
