Biography

Before moving to Flinders University I worked as a manager in the Australian Public Sector and held board positions in community sector organisations. These experiences inform my research and teaching interests, and I maintain connections with the public and non-government sector through both research and consulting.

Teaching interests

My teaching philosophy is based on the belief that learning in the area of public and non-profit organisation management requires the evaluation of theory against the practice of management, the development of reflective and analytical skills and practice in the application of knowledge to actual and hypothetical scenarios. I have an interest in the development of online learning environments.

I am a member of the Flinders Institute for Housing, Urban and Regional Environments, a focal point for theoretically significant, policy relevant and practice informed research on housing, cities and regions.

I have completed over 30 consultancies for government and non-government organisations in South Australia, Victoria and Queensland, mostly in the area of of program evaluation. Some examples from recent projects which are in the public domain are:
