Research interests

Grounded theory; chronic illness; congestive heart failure; acute confusion; symptomatology; clinical reasoning; multidisciplinary documentation; intravenous therapy; objective structured clinical examination; academic-clinician collaboration; clinical teaching and learning; graduate transition; clinical teaching models; evidence-based clinical nursing procedures; third space fluid shift. How can patients with congestive heart failure be assisted to monitor their symptoms?, PhD Thesis. This study used grounded theory techniques. Three different data sets, namely patient interviews (n=34), case note analysis and nurse interviews (n=17) were analysed. A theory was constructed to portray the relationship between CHF patients'personal interpretation of, and response to, the symptoms experienced which precipitated their present hospital admission with acute pulmonary oedema. A descriptive exploratory study to ascertain nurses' perceptions of caring for end-of-life heart failure patients in community and hospital settings See Borbasi, S.
