SET stands for Student Evaluation of Teaching. SETs are online surveys, containing 5-point scale and open ended (text response) questions, which evaluate and deliver feedback on a topics and teachers.
The primary purpose of Student Evaluation of Teaching is to provide staff with valid and reliable information with which to make informed decisions about improving student learning outcomes.
To access the SET system please login using the following link: set.flinders.edu.au
Login through FLO by clicking on Student Evaluation of Teaching (under Topic Links).
If there are SETs for you to fill out an invitation email (PDF 41KB) will be sent to your Flinders email account to let you know. Your teachers should also let you know when they would like you to fill in a SET survey, and may ask you to complete the survey in class using your mobile phone/tablet/laptop.
You can access the SET system at any time through FLO by clicking on Student Evaluation of Teaching (under Topic Links)
you can log on to the SET system directly by typing set.flinders.edu.au into the address bar of you favourite web browser.
You will be usually asked to evaluate the topic and your teachers in the one survey. Your responses are captured on a 5-point scale, with the rightmost response indicating the highest level of agreement.
Most surveys will be open for approximately six weeks, however, this may vary between individual topics.
Access to SET surveys is for approximately 30 minutes after entering the system. If you receive a ‘session time out’ message when submitting your survey please email firstname.lastname@example.org and the SET Admin Team can check if your responses were recorded correctly. If you have a large amount of feedback to enter into the comments section of your survey, you may consider composing it in Word or Notepad and copy & pasting it into the survey.
YES. The SET survey is completely confidential. Details of your individual response are not released. The report that is sent to your teacher only shows aggregated results such as frequency tables (i.e. number of students who gave a score of 5, 4, 3 etc) and lists of comments. Your teacher does not even find out which students responded to the SET and which students did not.
Please be assured that the confidentiality of respondents is very important to Planning and Analytical Services and that your response will only ever be reported in an aggregated format.
Students can access summary SET results for their topics (plus the Topic Coordinator's feedback on those results) in FLO by clicking on View Past Evaluations (under Topic Links).
If you make a mistake in responding to a survey please email email@example.com or call Julie on (08) 8201 2080 so that your response can be deleted and you can restart the survey.
If you cannot access the surveys that the email has pointed to, please do not contact teaching staff. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Sharleena on (08) 8201 3929 so that the problem can be resolved.
