TRIM stands for Total Records and Information Management. It is Flinders University's electronic document and records management application and the repository for official University correspondence. The information that follows augments formal TRIM training and is designed to assist the TRIM User in the understanding of both the functionality of TRIM and the Business Rules associated with the application.

What types of Records are managed in TRIM?
The University's official 'corporate' records are managed in TRIM. It is the repository for the University's official correspondence.
Do I need access to TRIM?
If you are a staff member in the Vice-Chancellor's office/Central Administration, you may need to use TRIM. Faculty and Library staff members may require access to TRIM depending on business needs. Contact the TRIM Helpdesk

How can I go about organising training?
New staff will receive TRIM training, if required, as part of their induction to the University. A basic introduction to TRIM at the new user's workstation usually takes about 45 minutes. Contact the TRIM Helpdesk for more information on TRIM training.
I’ve forgotten how to do a search, and some other basic functions in TRIM. Is there a quick and easy way to get help?

Do I need to file emails?
Information that is created during the course of University business is considered a University record, regardless of its format. Therefore, any email that relates to your day to day business must be treated in the same way as any paper records you would create or receive during the day.
When registering documents it is sometimes difficult to find the appropriate file in TRIM.
You may not have access to the file, or you may be using wrong key words, or the file may not exist. Contact the Record Classification Officer on Ext: 12021
