1.

Coursework Masters courses should have a maximum of 72 units and a minimum of 36 units.

2

The number of units required for a Masters will depend on the level and field of academic qualifications and documented professional experience at admission:

2.1 the masters will be 72 units for students with a three-year Bachelor degree (or equivalent as determined by the relevant Faculty Board);

2.2 the Masters will be between 36 and 72 units for students with a four-year undergraduate degree or an honours degree, or a three-year degree (or equivalent as determined by the relevant Faculty Board) together with appropriate professional experience.

3.

Where the Masters course includes a substantial research component, the number of units may be greater than for coursework only (i.e. more than the minimum 36 units), regardless of the qualifications and professional experience of the student, and this will be determined by the size of the research component.

4.

A Graduate Certificate and/or Graduate Diploma may contribute topics to the units required for completion of the final 36 units of the Masters, on condition that:

4.1 the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma topics are at fifth year level or above; and

4.2 the Graduate Certificate and/or Graduate Diploma and Masters form part of an articulated sequence of awards in a given field or some or all of the Graduate Certificate/Diploma topics are in the same general field as the Masters.
