Advertising

All University advertising, whether for print or electronic media and irrespective of funding source, must be approved by one of the following:

  • Domestic student recruitment and course promotion: Head, Admissions, Graduation & Examinations Office
  • International student recruitment and course promotion: Head, International Office
  • Staff recruitment: Human Resources Division
  • Discipline and research-related advertising (other than in the above three categories): Executive Dean of the relevant Faculty, or nominee
  • Corporate and university-wide advertising: Head, Public Affairs & Alumni Office.

Advertisements for use in the electronic media and in mainstream newspapers, magazines and periodicals must be booked, created and lodged by the University's advertising agency, Limelight Marketing Communications. Print advertisements must be created in the University's approved style.

Advertisements (other than HR advertisements) for use in academic, professional or trade publications may be negotiated and booked directly by University staff and created internally provided the content and design are approved by the Head of the Public Affairs & Alumni Office. This includes approval for use of the University crest.
  • 2 Marketing material
University staff must liaise with the relevant people listed in the above advertising guidelines before developing other marketing materials (eg posters, bookmarks, mouse mats) related to University courses, research, student recruitment or other activities.

No marketing material may carry the University crest without the approval of the Head of the Public Affairs & Alumni Office. See Use of the University name and University crest.
    3 Publications and printing
All standard course and student-related publications intended for prospective students and other external audiences (including course guides, individual course brochures and information sheets) are coordinated through the Public Affairs & Alumni Office or the International Office, in consultation with the relevant faculties and AOUs.

AOUs seeking to produce additional, complementary course and student-related material must liaise with the Public Affairs & Alumni Office and/or the International Office to discuss design and printing guidelines and the provision of editorial assistance as required. AOUs must have faculty approval before requesting new material.

Other publications, including course guides for enrolled or enrolling students, are the responsibility of faculties and AOUs. However, the following requirements concerning graphic design and printing apply. Staff should also be aware of requirements regarding Use of the University name and University crest.
      3.1 Printing
Flinders Press provides printing and copying services and must be given the opportunity to quote on all printing jobs within the University that use the University crest. Staff may negotiate with Flinders Press when they are quoted a better price for the same quality. Contact the Manager, ext 13150.
      3.2 Graphic design services
The University has two approved suppliers of graphic design services – our marketing agency, Limelight Marketing Communications, and InPrint Design, which is based on campus in the Sturt buildings. Flinders Press also can provide layout services for documents.

Ms Elizabeth Tasker at Limelight can be contacted on 8223 7122. Ms Lee-Anne Sparkes at InPrint can be contacted on ext 13223.
      3.3 Waiver
All course-related publications should carry the following waiver:
The information in this publication was correct at the time of preparation (date). Flinders University reserves the right to alter any course or topic contained herein without prior notice. Students should check the availability of courses and topics when enrolling.
      3.4 Photographs
The Public Affairs & Alumni Office has University photographs available for use in brochures and other publications but does not have access to external photo libraries. Staff requiring photographs to be taken should make direct contact with the Library’s Multimedia Unit on 12625.
    4 University folders
Folders printed in the University’s corporate style and incorporating the crest can be purchased from the Public Affairs & Alumni Office.
    5 Powerpoint template
A standard University template featuring the crest, the University name and a small campus photograph is available for staff use when making Powerpoint presentations on behalf of the University. There are two options – a corporate design with a lightly coloured background and the emblem Think Learn Lead Link, and a plain white background which is more suitable for busy presentations including a number of visuals. Contact the Public Affairs & Alumni Office.
